Cynthia Nehr (Director) - Cynthia, a Lancaster County native, graduated magna cum laude with a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography and a secondary concentration in ballet from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She has studied with noted dance artists including Bill T. Jones, Ann Vachon, Carla Maxwell, Nina Watt, Doug Varone, Akram Khan, Bebe Miller, Kun-Yang Lin, and Greer Reed-Jones. While in Philadelphia, she performed in both the Philadelphia Fringe Festival and Dance Boom, and danced for choreographers including Christie Newman, Keith Thompson, Marianella Boan, and Shannon Perlotto. She participated in reconstructions of classic works by Phillipo Taglioni, Doris Humphrey, Jose Limon, and Paul Taylor, and performed at the Ickle International Dance Notation Conference in 2002-2004. She also completed the Vaganova syllabus teacher training seminars in levels 1-3 and 4-6 at the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet. Upon relocating to Pittsburgh in 2007, Cindy danced for LabCo Dance Company, MillerDance with Mary Miller, and the Staycee Pearl Dance Project. She was a guest instructor at Pittsburgh's High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, and also taught at Rogers Magnet Middle School and Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School. Cindy is a founding member of NetCo Dance Company, a contemporary modern company based right here in Lancaster. In addition to dancing with NetCo Dance Company and serving as its Assistant Director, she regularly choreographs for community dance events and works as a coordinator for the Lancaster Dance Initiative's Downtown Dances.
Jennifer Berlet - A native of Lancaster, Pa, Jennifer started her studies at Slippery Rock University, where she graduated with a double major in Dance Performance and Theatre Performance. She has worked with choreographers/performers such as Mark Taylor and Dance Alloy, Maureen Fleming, Doug Elkins, Mary Miller Dance Company (Pittsburgh, PA), Stillpoint Dance, Spank Dance Company & Jose Bustamante (Austin, TX), The Laban Centre of Movement & The Royal Shakespeare Company (London), The Deborah Slater Dance Theatre (San Francisco, CA) and Chet Zercher (Lancaster, PA), Philadanco, Koresh Dance Company and Opus1 Contemporary (Philadelphia, Pa) Jennifer has performed original works at the Andy Warhol Museum and City Theatre along with Doris Humphrey's "Air 4 G-String" reconstruction (Pittsburgh, PA). In 2004, while teaching at Silver Spring Dance Conservatory, she founded NetCo Dance Company (a network of collaborative dancers) that has continued to evolve and grow over the last decade. Along with NetCo Dance Company, Jennifer is employed at Masonic Villages of Pa, Elizabethtown, as a Fitness Instructor II. Since inception, NetCo continues to produce complete innovative dance programs, often focusing on issues that affect women. NetCo also performs for community benefits, as part of local dance showcases, in churches, camps and nursing homes. Jennifer is Director/ choreographer of NetCo Dance Company and also performs with the company regularly.
Kylee Boaman- Kylee holds a Bachelor’s Degree is Elementary Education with a Studio Art minor from Millersville University. Kylee’s dance education started at the Lancaster School of Ballet under the direction of Carolyn Thrythall, and expanded into lengthy careers in competitive gymnastics and cheerleading. She also trained at SSDC during her high school and college years under the tutelage of Chet Zercher (ballet, jazz, and tap) and Jennifer Berlet (modern, jazz, and hip hop.) Kylee has performed locally with NetCo Dance Company, dancing in their original productions as well as in Downtown Dances and the Barbara Barden Dance Series. An accomplished visual artist and photographer, Kylee also has her own photography business, Kylee B Photography, where she does everything from family and senior portraits to weddings to fashion photography. She is very excited to be able to continue to inspire a new generation by combining her passions for the arts and education here at SSDC.
Regina Callie Bowe - A homegrown Lancaster County dancer, Regina is a 2013 graduate of Adelphi University's prestigious BFA Dance program. After dancing in NYC with mentors from the Amy Marshall Dance Company, Paul Taylor Dance Company and Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance, Regina was excited to return to Lancaster and get involved with the performing arts community here. Regina is a company member with Grant Street Dance Company and NetCo Dance Company and has also appeared in several Barefoot Dance Company and Ephrata Performing Arts Center performances. Regina is a certified barre instructor and also teaches modern and jazz throughout Lancaster County.
Erin Carner - Erin has been dancing for twenty-four years and teaching for seven years. After graduating from Warwick High School, she studied at the University of the Arts, in Philadelphia. While attending UARTS, Erin trained in Modern, Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Contemporary under the instruction of Kim Bears-Bailey, Michael Sheridan, Zane Booker, Andrew Pap, Donald Lunsford, Suzanne Slenn and Scott Jovovich. She also had the opportunity to perform alongside the PA Ballet and the artist "Sting" at the Merriam Theatre as well as at various other university performances. After UARTS, Erin started her career as a dance instructor and choreographer. She has been teaching Modern (Horton Technique), Ballet, Contemporary and Stretch Classes. Erin also spends her time teaching Yoga inspired "StretchFlo" classes in Downtown Lancaster.
Shirl Fleckenstein- Shirl began her dance career right here at SSDC at the age of 4 after falling in love with an animated version of the Nutcracker. She continued her dance training through high school, and in college at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, where she graduated with her degree in Marketing. She also regularly studied at Koresh Dance in Philadelphia and with master ballet teacher, Nadine Revene, here in Lancaster, and has performed with NetCo Dance Company. Although classical ballet is her first love, Shirl is an extremely well-rounded dancer and educator with experience in modern, jazz, tap, Irish step, and even swing dancing and Latin ballroom. Shirl especially loves working with our youngest dancers, and introducing them to the joys of the art of dance.
Alyson Grine - Alyson has been dancing since the age of 9, training in tap, jazz, contemporary, and ballet at Encore Productions in South Jersey. Throughout grade school and high school she competed both regionally and nationally. Alyson's performance experience includes corps and soloist roles in the Nutcracker at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, dancing in Reflections of Woodstock at Caesar's, and Andrea McArdle's Family Christmas Show at The Tropicana. Alyson studied dance at Moorpark College in Southern CA, and Stockton State College in South Jersey. She has been teaching many styles to all ages of dancers since 1999. She continues her education by reading, and taking class when she has the opportunity. In 2016 Alyson joined NetCo Dance Company here in Lancaster. Alyson is passionate about dance and honored to share her love and experience through teaching!
A.K. Mullen Johnson - Amy K. Mullen-Johnson is a Teaching Artist, Dancer and Choreographer. She earned her MFA in dance from University of Colorado, Boulder and her bachelors' degree in dance from Slippery Rock University. With goals to promote and support arts in education and dance in the community, Mullen-Johnson works with the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts as an arts education teacher with stARTSomething, a regional program of the Cultural Alliance of York. Mullen-Johnson is an adjunct faculty at York College in the Theatre and Communications Department. In addition, she works with the Fulton Theatre's education and outreach programs to promote critical literacy through the arts, engaging young people with storytelling, theatre, dance, and creative writing. Her aspirations as an artist are dedicated to teaching dance. Mullen-Johnson is in her fifth season teaching dance at Greater York Dance and is very excited to join the professional team of teachers and dancers at Silver Spring Dance Conservatory. When she is not teaching, she rehearses and performs with NetCo Dance Company, and spends time in nature exploring site specific dance.
Alexis Sites - Lexie is currently working towards her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a STEM minor at Millersville University. She is a recent graduate of Hempfield High School, where she participated in Dance Theater all four years. While at Hempfield she also performed in the choir and orchestra. She began dancing at SSDC at the age of four, where her love for dance grew each and every year. She has training in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, tap and hip hop. While she is not at school, she enjoys rehearsing and performing with NetCo Dance Company as well as performing out in the community.
Shalynne Wnuk - Shalynne grew up in Reading, PA where she was homeschooled from K - 12. When she was four Shalynne started dancing at Carousel of Dance in Sinking Spring, PA where she studied all styles of dance, but quickly fell in love with tap. She continued her dance education throughout high school, taking classes, competing, and performing in her community. Shalynne attended Clarks Summit University, graduating in May 2016 with her BS PK-4 Elementary Education. She is very excited to have the opportunity to get back into the dance studio at SSDC and share her love of tap with students of all ages. She will also be working with SSDC's youngest dancers, teaching Creative Dance.
