  • Properly fitting dance shoes are important
  • Ballet slippers should fit the dancer’s foot like a glove. Isotoner slippers are not allowed
  • Tap shoes should fit comfortably. Flat taps (no high heels) for all beginning tappers
  • Jazz shoes and Jazz sneakers should have a non-marking sole
  • Pointe shoes should be professionally fitted and you need to remember elastics and ribbons

Class Conduct

  • We expect our dancers to behave appropriately within the studio
  • Be kind to your fellow dancers
  • See the director with any issues and before serious problems occur. Complaints will remain confidential when possible and will be addressed in a general way
  • Class "rules" help prevent injury and help maintain a solid class structure
  • We see discipline as maintaining a safe and nurturing environment where the dancer can have fun and learn. If a child becomes a distraction (s)he may be asked to leave class. This is to help the other dancers
  • Please remember that ALL dancers develop in different ways at different ages. We are not competitive with one another. Class levels are determined by a combination of physical, mental and emotional factors. Dance is different for each child
  • Please do not hesitate to ask questions and help us do what is best for your dancer. Please ask if you need something or have a concern

We hope you choose SSDC for your child’s dance education. You can expect:

  • Highly qualified, Professional, creative and caring staff
  • A variety of dance opportunities
  • A fun, nurturing atmosphere
